Being grateful for all……

DAILY LOVE TIP – Wednesday July 6, 2011

Sharing some special favourites from the 13th-century Persian poet, theologian, mystic, Jalal ad-Muhammad Rumi from:–

                                            Rumi Love and Ecstasy Poems

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.

Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

~ Jelaluddin Rumi,
translation by Coleman Barks

How powerful to be able to embrace all our emotions with the same welcome and gratitude. A continuing practice, thinks I………. as is the practice of choosing connection and being in relationship above being right…… you can be right or you can be in relationship!

Question for you: Which emotions are hard for you to “meet at the door laughing and invite them in…” Ask someone to mirror you for a minimum of 5 minutes while you share about it.

Being grateful for all, may all LOVE surround you, Susie♥♥

Thank you Susie for this timely gift of the Rumi poem. I have shared it with many people today (and I am grateful for the internet to be able to do this!). I try to practice non-judgmental thinking, but sometimes I hear that little voice which has to be right and that is usually when I am not welcoming in change, difference of opinion or difficulties. Rumi’s poem was a timely reminder to me to not only welcome in “what is” but to see the gift behind it for me. Already I feel humbled and ready to take on the day.
    Hugs to you, Chris

Oh so hard it is being conscious and intentional and staying ♥LOVE-ing and non-judgemental when there are little and sometimes outright loud and big voices in our head telling us otherwise. And YES being able to see and receive the Gift is such a treat…and a talent! I am grateful for your sharing and spreading the word. Have a splendid day on this and everyday. LOVE, Susie♥
