♥father’s day & the living years…….

DAILY LOVE TIP – Sunday September 4, 2011

Dear precious ♥people,

Fathers & sons and fathers & daughters are topics that warrant our close and LOVE-ing attention….On this day for celebrating fathers I invite you to open up your heart and search in amongst your memories…….and to share about both the happiness and the pain……..all that is there that has been shaped by your relationship with your father…….

” I wasn’t there that morning, when my father passed away, I didn’t get to tell him all the things I had to say…. I just wish I could have told him in the living years “……..

The Living Years ~ Mike & The Mechanics

Every generation
Blames the one before
And all of their frustrations
Come beating on your door
I know that I’m a prisoner
To all my Father held so dear
I know that I’m a hostage
To all his hopes and fears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Crumpled bits of paper
Filled with imperfect thoughts
Stilted conversations
I’m afraid that’s all we’ve got

You say you just don’t see it
He says it’s perfect sense
You just can’t get agreement
In this present tense
We all talk a different language
Talkin’ in defense

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It’s too late when we die
To admit we don’t see eye to eye

So we open up a quarrel
Between the present and the past
We only sacrifice the future
It’s the bitterness that lasts

So Don’t yield to the fortunes
You sometimes see as fate
It may have a new perspective
On a different date
And if you don’t give up, and don’t give in
You may just be O.K.

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It’s too late when we die
To admit we don’t see eye to eye

I wasn’t there that morning
When my Father passed away
I didn’t get to tell him
All the things I had to say

I think I caught his spirit
Later that same year
I’m sure I heard his echo
In my baby’s new born tears
I just wish I could have told him in the living years

Say it loud, say it clear
You can listen as well as you hear
It’s too late when we die
To admit we don’t see eye to eye

Say it loud, say it clear
Say it loud
Don’t give up
Don’t give in
And don’t know what you can do next…..

Did you have some good times with your dad today? And for the Dad’s did you enjoy the ♥LOVE-ing attention of your children?

Questions for you:
For the Dads – what is the best thing about being a Dad?
For the sons and daughters – what is the best thing about your Dad and having a Dad?
Share about this with each other using ♥MIRRORING as well  as with your partner or a friend.

Todays’ Addition to Shelton’s list of ♥favourite things is……♥HUGS. He is the best hugger and he just loves hugging especially big bear ♥HUGS where he gets r-e-a-a-a-a-a-l-l-l-l-l-l-l-y squeezed….being squeezed is such a favourite for our Sheltini…….and it is quite a challenge to do for such a tall 6ft 5inches man…………Here’s a  Freea -Shelton / daughter-Dad ♥HUG…..a gentle ‘let’s-hang-out-together’……..

Question for you: Does/did your Dad ♥HUG you and hold you? What memories do you have that stand out? What impact has this had on your life?

A reminder about my request for you to send in and share photos of you and your Dad…and/or of photos of you as a Dad with your kids or for the women of your partner with your kids. My idea is to make a collage of these positive images….

Quite a few people didn’t get to experience a ♥LOVE-ing physical connection with their Dad’s (or their mothers) and at just our last workshop we were talking about how we can change our negative unconscious images by replacing them with ones that we make up by gathering together positive images from sources like our friends, movies, TV shows, books, neighbours – in fact many people remembered their friend’s Dad (or Mum) as someone who was there for them who they looked up to and who taught them that they were OK……

One of the Dad’s that is a model of a ♥LOVE-ing Dad for me is the father in the TV show Little House on the Prairie. I think he is fabulous. Who are yours?

This topic of Fathers and their meaning to us feels like a huge one and I am just skimming the surface here……..I will pick this up again….let me know what gets brought up for you as you are reading……

Feeling grateful for all the men who are committed to being good fathers, ♥LOVE Susie.

worry that they are always watching you” ~ Fulgham
